There was sun this morning, but even as quickly as I type this, the clouds are moving in again. We'll have rain this evening. I feel beaten down. I feel as if I don't have a single chill and cloudy-day's worth of strength left in me, and yet we are only at the threshold of New England's interminable six or seven or eight month cold. Years ago, probably the mid-Nineties when I was in my early 20s, I got a few chapters into Moby-Dick but no further. I'm glad I waited until 2012, when I'd reached my late 30s, to read it again (successfully that time); I hadn't been ready for the book when I was younger. I was then.

If I may ask, how much history do you have with Moby-Dick?
