"...A distant ship's smoke on the horizon."

The sun is out today, as it was yesterday. But today there's not so much of the gnawing breeze. Yesterday was cold, despite the sun. Today is almost warm. Okay, let's not get carried away. It's only 59˚F. On April 12th. Spring is hardly even a rumor. Where do the kids up here hide Easter eggs, when there's no grass or weeds or green bushes? Under ( Read more... )

Having a tribute at your age is great. That means you might get another in ten years, and there is posthumously tributes. It's to bad I won't live to see the next one.

Very cool news about the tribute! I am curious, though, about your remark re:"the Wide, Carnivorous Sky." The first time I recall seeing the phrase was as the title to a John Langan story in the 2009 anthology By Blood We Live (which also featured your "Ode to Edvard Munch," of course). I've also noticed it in your fiction and blog posts a time or two in the years since, but didn't think much of it until your above comment about the turn of phrase always being yours and the title of the tribute antho being a reclamation--perhaps I'm missing something, but had you coined it prior to the Langan piece? I always assumed it was a shout out, since I didn't remember seeing it in your work before that, but then my memory is far from picture perfect!

Just wondering, since you called attention to it, and very much looking forward to seeing the table of contents of the antho--Centipede obviously does gorgeous work, and I'm sure it'll be a grand book.
