"The Cats of River Street (1925)," which I think is actually a pretty decent story. At almost 9,000 words, it's quite a bit longer than I'd expected it to be.
I am really looking forward.
Dinner was rabbit left overs, with a box of Zatarain's red beans and rice and a bottle of Dogfish Head's delicious Midas' Touch.
Looking back over the summer, you've accomplished quite a bit of writing, it seems. I am very much looking forward to "The Cats of River Street (1925); I vaguely remember you saying it'll be in Sirenia, correct?
I love Zatarain's stuff; it's probably my favorite boxed food.
Sending out good thoughts for the writing to go as well as possible. I am continuing in "Two Worlds and In Between," about 2/3's the way through. Looking forward to reading "The Cats of River Street(1925)"
I won a book on the recent ebay sales, and I am surprised but delighted. Previous attempts at bidding only meant I helped drive up the cost of the book without winning. Not intentional on my part because I did want to win but I take an odd comfort in knowing the books sold for more than when I began bidding.
August in the TN valley is humid and while not triple digits yet, and there is question if we'll hit 100 or above, in the afternoon I hide out from the oppressive heat. I finally venture outside the house about 6-7pm or so for fresh air and to view the blue skies before the sun disappears. Walking up and down the cul-de-sac at 1am in the cool of the night is interesting when the police keep doing drive bys - as if an old woman in pajamas is a threat.
We had an incredible hard winter here. All the feral cats died, but the rabbits seem better adapted to the area. With no cats to keep the population down, every yard has a rabbit in resident. Still, i don't think I would want to eat rabbit. There is this toxic river not far from my home. When the salmon are running, you can step into calf deep river and grab a salmon so large that you can barely lift it. To bad the salmon are toxic, I could eat like a king all year. Some moron fed his family some of this salmon. They all ended up in the hospital. Is that the future? The wild life protected by their poisoned habitat?
