"Hey, there. There's such deadly wolves 'round town tonight."

Hold on. I'm trying to remember what happened day before yesterday. No, I'm not kidding. Hold on.

Ah, okay. Good damn thing I have Spooky, who may as well be my failing memory's external hard drive. But first, this:

It's not so much negativity as it is things you can't understand. I only have my own experiences that I know for sure what happened ( Read more... )

books, the hobbit, the drowning girl, too damn many books, 3-d, michael zulli, "oranges from africa", peter jackson, writing, cherry bomb, "horror", neko case, movies, centipede press

I also managed in Wednesday to pull together Sirenia Digest #94, and it went out to subscribers early yesterday.

I read "THE MOTE[L] (2032)" at 6am this morning when I probably ought to have been sleeping. But it was great, I love when you use that future noir poetic voice. It's great to read aloud, it has a definite rhythm to it.

And I have to admit that my opinion of the film has been improved.

Oh, wow. I wondered if the extended version was worth checking out. I'll definitely do so now.

Beautiful Michael Zulli sketches.

Thank you. I want to say it was "written aloud," as I was constantly rewriting based on how it sounded spoken, trying to get something that sounded like a believable voice.

It doesn't fix the fundamental aesthetic issues (48 fps and 3D gimmick shots), but it is a better film, overall.

and if anyone bothers to read their "made in" labels on everyday items, they will notice that most of the candy canes for xmas (and a lot of the candy!) is made in China..

I've become very wary of food from China.

And, you know, apparently Americans have forgotten how to fucking make candy canes.

and spice drops are made in Mexico (they have no black ones in their mix) or Canada (they have the black ones), and its really crazy about the simplest things. I have never been motivated to eat less candy until I started reading where its manufactured at. Brachs is the worst offender so far. But Earth Born (the folks that bring us Peeps) still make their mallows stateside.

At least Altoids are still manufactured in the UK.

There was tons and tons of dust.
A hazard of the job to be sure. We found out just yesterday that my wife has a moderate dust allergy. So in future we'll need to be extra careful when moving books and stuff about and extra vigilant about dusting full stop.

Cheers for the report on the extended cut of TH:AEJ. I had all but decided against buying the release, despite all the "making-of" stuff--which I like, but I think I shall reconsider.

Fortunately, mine's pretty tame.

You can get it pretty cheap at Amazon right now. I think I'm waiting for the inevitable boxed set of all three films that will probably see the light of day sometime in 2015.
