Fleh. Back to square one on bakeries. The woman we wanted emailed back and said she won't deliver somewhere as far from her business as our venue. It's only an hour. An hour isn't ideal, but I've been to a ton of weddings where a bakery didn't even EXIST within an hour of the reception site... unless you count Wal-Mart bakeries (yuck).

I actually had a friend of the family (in Shelbyville) bake my wedding cake, and she did a great job. There are just regular old people out there that make cakes for weddings if you ask around. They are usually cheaper than bakeries too. Ask friends and neighbors who they got their cake through - I bet you'll find someone.

Elizabethtown is fairly close to the area you are looking into...
But they don't have a whole lot.
Here is a bakery that makes brread, they may make cakes too, but if they don't, they may know someone who does! Doesnt hurt to try.

Earthgrains Baking Co:
3130 Ring Rd
Elizabethtown, KY 42701
(270) 769-9021
Specialties:
Formally Rainbo Bread

You know one baker that does bread will know all the other bakers in town and they will know exactly who to refer you to.

When mapping the listings I found a couple of what you might consider "Southern" Louisville Bakeries:

A Piece of Cake
8102 Blue Lick Rd
Louisville, KY 40219
(502) 968-3749

Cuban Bakery
5030 Poplar Level Rd
Louisville, KY 40219 Map
(502) 968-8344

Cuban bakery actually sounds pretty exotic, but I don't know what they would have to offer, I have never been to any of these places and the searches do not have ratings for them, but they may spark your interest to try them out or just give them a call to find out more information about what else is available in the area.
