I do think my church has needs that need to be met by tithing also (I know some argue against paying pastors, but we have so few staff members and they work so hard--and raising support just stinks. Plus, we have to rent the school we meet in).
The great thing is that my church gives most of the money it receives back to the community, and people are giving extra for service projects all the time...food for the food pantry, turkeys on Thanksgiving, etc.
Still, there are times I feel it's more important to give my tithe to someone in need. I doubt God minds. ;) It's more fun that way, too.
