Small Business Owners and Pricing

I love shopping in little individually owned places. They have more unique merchandise than the generic output of places like Wal-Mart. What amazes me is the things other customers will say about the shop, particularly the negative comments. My absolute biggest pet peeve is price tags. Maybe trying a different kind of price tag here and there would be a suitable compromise? Customers are strange sometimes, some feel as if asking is somehow detracting from other things you might be doing or inviting a long hard sell kind of sales pitch.

We've even tried string tags, which is probably worse in the long run, and nothing seems to really work. Tags are so expensive anymore it's hard to find good tags without breaking the bank. In some cases, the price is printed on the label or is on the bottom of the item. It's the oddball things that you can't really get a tag on that's the real aggravation, at least for me, unless I tape it on and it still disappears. >_
