It is interesting what makes a show great fodder for fandom. It's not as simple as saying a 'good' show or one with pretty and/or interesting characters. Often times it is the one that has major flaws that fandom likes to pick up on. That's why I thought BSG never had a bigger fannish community (plenty of people watch but there's not nearly as much fic for a show of that length). It had it's problems, especially in the last season, but most of it is just so damn good, there's no reason to go in and fix the show. Where as huge fanoms such as Smallville, Supernatural and Merlin, all have some pretty big flaws, (writing, lack of female characters, wtf time is this even suppose to be happening) that fandom gets to go in and fix.
