grad student blues. each time it comes up, it makes me re-think about whether i can go through with it (not that i'm trying to discourage you). it can't be all that bad!

it's not that bad. i have some depressing stories to tell, and the internet is convenient. usually good stories are told in person and one is having too good of a time to blog about them.
as always, anything really worth doing will test your patience.

it's probably too late for that. thanks, though! q:
not really, no. i kind of just end up reading blogs, when i have something to say, i pretty much just comment without thinking about whether i know who i'm writing to. hope you don't mind, i've been reading your blog once in awhile, i just never got to mentioning it to you.
haha, you have something to live for grad student. keep on it.
response that even something as mundane as librarianship gets.
admittedly, i would ask giddily ask if they always get first pick of the new books and materials, or if they have to wait like the rest of us mortals.
then again, i am always curious about perks. but all kidding aside,
I feel like this plagues a lot of specialists (not just grad students, but those in the professions, and those who have already become teachers or professors or workers at the gubment or whatever),i take a slightly different point of view, but i think you're right. my guess is that imagination and expectation are more at work here. hence, the more specialized a field is, the less of an idea people may have of it
