I remember reading somewhere that llamas make great watch-dogs for a flock of sheep. I hadn't read anything about a teacher though. I might have to see if I can get the book through the library.
Very nice review! :-D Llamas are very interesting. Many of my local dog buddies have herding breeds and take part in trials for herding, and a few have their own sheep. But none have llamas... yet. :-D
It was a fascinating book and first hand account of how good llamas were at helping with the sheep from the time they're born and when they go out in the fields. Instead of herding the sheep to the different fields, apparently she could just lead the llama and the sheep would follow.
It really was a really nice surprise. I know the pictures first caught my attention, but the stories were both informative and sweet. I was laughing out loud several times.
