Steven King has the right of it: hotels are scary places, especially at night! I think it's because it's a huge metaphor for life and death. You come into your room, you make it your own, you have experiences, then you leave it behind and your memory is erased by anonymous cleaners who clear away all traces of you. Hmmm. YES. Scary hotels = The Shining. Also because you know statistically someone has to have died at some point in just about every hotel in existence.

I love hotels! Not scary at all! I love how you can leave the hotel room in the morning and come back in the afternoon and there are clean towels! And your bed has been made! Someone has attempted to clean up the clothes you've left strewn haphazardly across the room!

My only complaint about hotels is how expensive the room service is, otherwise I would LIVE in a hotel. I wouldn't care what I'd have to do to make that happen:)
