1. Please bring Faust Chroma to Melbourne? Pleasepleaseplease!!!???
2. Tell me a secret about Sarah K's script! She won't say a word about it!
3. Unfortunately it seems this cutting-back on all the interesting university stuff is a trend that's happening everywhere. At least it's happening in my part of the world. I narrowly escaped La Trobe University in Melbourne with an Art History degree before it got subsumed into the larger History Dept.
4. It's so good to hear from you. Glad all went well with the Fringe Festival.

We would like to come to Melbourne SO MUCH. We're still checking out possibilities, perhaps regards the Adelaide Festival... I don't know.
Our first attempt at touring would have been more profitable if it hadn't been for the (thankfully empty) trailer coming off the van and smashing into a lady's car. She was fine but the damage was about $1500. GUH. We're hoping the hire company's insurance will cover it, but I don't know.

And YES. The Arts are under threat all over because of universities becoming profit-enterprises. SUCKS BIG TIME.
How are your studies going at the moment?
And how are you??

If you bring Faust Chroma to anywhere near Melbourne I'll totally come it's a promise. I'll check out your play, too! (HA! bad joke!)

My studies are a bit blah at the moment. I like academic, theoretical stuff but my course (graduate diploma in museum studies) is really vocational and all about government bodies, policies, ethics, loads of acronyms and other boring stuff. I'm writing a Cultural Policy assignment as we speak. Thank the gods I've got a glass of wine and the sound of my bf and his brother watching old Lost In Space episodes to keep me amused!

I'm very happy to hear that the accident didn't hurt anyone. Sucks about the money, though. xox

There was an article in the paper today (here) about some kind of summit aiming to make Australian culture focused on the arts by 2020. Cate Blanchett was there, looking very beautiful even after producing a baby like, two DAYS ago. I was really impressed and thought of you with all your museum studies and acronyms and all, fighting the good fight for the arts there.

OMG the accident was awful. Because once the trailer lifted off (we still don't know why) it was inevitably going to keep on until it hit something and there was NOTHING to be done. We got off very lightly. It could have hit a pedestrian or ANYTHING. And it didn't. Just a big dent and damaged her light, and she was very relaxed about it. I would have been yelling at us for DAYS. The money is nothing, compared to what could have happened. PHEW.

I have been on tour! Hirray! And then also I came and lurked a bit because I didn't feel communicative because it's all been meetings and protest and stupid politics and I felt like I didn't have anything to add to anything.

Are you in France yet?
...
How about now?
...
now?

*BIG HUGS*

She's up and down, but the improvement when they get all the doses of everything right is quite remarkable. She's very impatient with not feeling up to par at the moment, which is a good sign. When she's got enough energy to be her usual ascerbic self, things seem much better!
And thank you! It's a blast to perform in, although I don't have a huge idea of what it looks like from outside!

You've been out fringing! And from that review you appear to be fringe-masters!

I love fringe and wish my teleporter (aka wardrobe) would transport me there NOW!

And the uni crap has to be disheartening. It makes me mad and I'm not even involved! Just remember that officials can officiate and be short-sighted and push their profit-motive agenda but they can't actually change the basic human need to process the world through the arts. They just wish they could.

You know, that's quite profound, I'm going to keep telling myself that. It's too easy to get somehow CONVINCED by them. And they're bastards, so POOH to them.

(ps, in reply to your other comment, I'm a KNITTER. A bad knitter, I do it more for relaxation than actually producing anything wearable, but it's an ongoing process, I love it anyway).

I'm so sorry to hear that they went through with it. It's not just frustrating or disheartening - it's really terrible, and I wish it weren't happening.

Your tour sounds like a triumph, though, and right when you needed it! I hope good things continue to come your way - with all the work you put in, I can't imaging that they won't.

And I've been hearing a little about the course from Em's side, and I'm so pleased it's turning out to be such a great experience for both of you!

Glad to see you back around, honey!

*hugs* Hello!

Life is so mixed at the moment, on one hand BAD with the university and the dying of the light (or so it feels like) but on the other hand, creatively quite wicked with the theatre and writing with Em. On the one hand, everything is icky and the other, great. So I'm surviving quite well in spite of it all.

How are you doing??
