Happy Things Meme Day Four (Thursday)

May 06, 2011 23:26

- Dropping the Boy off at school at the same time as his little pal H. The Boy has three main friends in his class... all girls! and I love seeing him toddle off through the gate with them. H beams particularly charmingly at him, but if they're all there on time, there's the Boy in the middle, a girl on either arm and the other one gamboling round ( Read more... )

Sleep is a wonderful thing.

If only I'd taken heed of my own advice. Didn't go to bed 'til 2am last night (after being at work which is disproportionately tiring considering how few hours I'm there) and consequently over-slept for taking the Boy to swimming lesson (hence the tidying instead.) Grrr.

But apart from that... haha!

I'm tempted to ask about 'breaking ducks' but I'm sidetracked by the cuteness of your adorable children. Yay for sleep! Sometimes you don't realise how much you need more until you get it.

'breaking his/her duck' was an expression I didn't understand either (just something my mum says to mean achieving something you've been trying to for a while), but on looking it up, it's apparently a cricketing term.

It's something to do with a score of zero - 0 - looking like a duck egg in shape - so to break your duck is to score some points. It's a bit more complicated than that, but it was a sport fact, so my brain zoned out!

I've GOT to get more into sleep. The Boy missed out on his swimming lesson today because I overslept after 2am bed. Not good.

OK, that makes sense! I actually know about 'out for a duck' as I used to (surprisingly, considering my lack of interest in all sporting events) follow cricket... or should I say I watched a season of one-day games back in my youth when I was unemployed over summer (on TV, not actually attended). My brother took time out to explain the game to me and thus, I understand the terminology! So breaking your duck, now I follow, would be to stop getting out for a duck, or to finally achieve something! Woo!

Get more sleep! Go on, go lay down your head right now and stop looking at porn! ;-)

Phew, glad you had some background gen, there - I was afeared it was one of those occasions where the explanation was more complicated than the thing!

Ah, porn - I haven't had the appetite for it since magazine-gate, a year or so back, except perhaps the slash reading bit. If only I was up to something so useful on the internet at night, but alas, it's mainly silly games. One day I'll learn!

Aww gotta love your kids :)!
Its great you found a nice baby group. The one we go to is just fab & friendly too. So much better than some of the ones i used to frequent with my older DS.
Yay for getting some much needed sleep x

Kids are special!

Yeah, baby groups are something I'm near phobic of, so to finally be enjoying one is a massive relief. Little R always gets something out of it, which is the main thing.

I love watching small children play, their innocence combined with their earnestness (is that a word?) and intent, is a sight to behold and makes one feel good about the human race.

I'd like to be able to say it's lovely having you back and playing with us again, but a) it sounds vaguely dirty and b) I seem to have been absent for most of it! LOL.

Sleep, 'tis a beautiful thing when it works well.

PS. Did you like Hugh Laurie's music playing on the Graham Norton show?

With you there, my lovely, with you there. And that's from a bitter cynic like me :D

Of course playing with my flist is vaguely dirty, that's what I love most about it!! And I should know better than to say things like that - after a burst of activity, the flist has quietened up a little, but that's fine too, everyone seems well at the moment!

One of my many blessings is my usual ability to sleep like a log once I'm actually in bed! It's the going up that's the problem, it seems.

Hugh Laurie was very good, though I was concentrating more on this post than the telly. I was surprised until I remembered his piano playing on 'Fry and Laurie', and thus rendered myself less surprised!
