New interview about LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES is up, with more preview scans from #1 (how much of the issue will we not have seen when it comes out? Not that I'm complaining!) and I'm getting more and more encouraged--this still has the potential to go horribly wrong, but Waid's saying interesting things ( Read more... )

*sighs* I think I should just admit defeat and call up the comic shop and have it added to my pulls.

I am feeling no guilt. In fact, I'm feeling something like the polar opposite of guilt. Possibly what is referred to as Extreme Smugness.

Damn I hope they're not setting Brainy up in a mentoring position... I mean RJ's great and all, but that's what he's _meant_ to be. Brainy is supposed to be the wonderfully socio-phobic little bitch we all know and love. Although, just picturing him trying to have a heart-to-heart with an angsty teeny-bopper does have it's comedic merit...

According to...oh, where was it...oh, right, the talk Waid gave at whichever comics con it was. Anyway, he said Brainy was going to be the science advisor to the team. Which, okay, not ideal, but doesn't sound like to me like he's being set up for RJ's position. I think there's also room for Brainy keeping an eye out for kids with potential without acting as their camp counselor after they come aboard (notice it isn't Brainy giving him basic orientation in the preview scans). It's not something the post-ZH Brainy would have bothered with, but there's nothing to say this version will be quite that...ah...difficult.

(It also suddenly occurs to me that the preboot Brainy technically did recruit Invisible Kid II, although the circumstances were a bit unusual.)
