I'm compiling a list of phrases I solemnly vow never to use in my writing. The first I can't remember where I posted it originally, but it was "the slender white column of her neck."
Every female vampire's victim seems to have one of these things. Mine will not.

strange, I don't think I've ever SEEN either of those "cliches". Oh wait, I might have seen that second one in a t-cest fic once.

a smile that reaches a character's hairline? Now THAT sounds creepy ;D

Well, you probably have to have read a hecka lotta vampire novels (especially of the vampire romance genre) to reach the point where you want to throw the book across the room if you see the phrase one more time.
I have read that many and I have reached that point.

Lol-- yeah the smile up in the hairline does sort of conjure up a sort of Joker look, doesn't it? Or something someone created on Face Off....

Speaking of writing, and I know you probably don't read TMNT fanfiction anymore but that's all I have at the moment, would you mind looking over a drabble or two of mine? I finally have the nerve now to show my stuff around a little more. I don't write anything that I would be ashamed of, hehe.

My goal is to never use a common simile/metaphor without changing it up. I've missed a few over the years, but I usually manage okay....

Hmm. If it's insincere enough, it likely won't reach his cheekbones either. There's also the finding-your-own method -- "He favored her with a plastic smile." (Almost as real as Barbie's, lol.)
