A friend just posted a really good, thoughtful post on her blog about why the "I like it on [insert place]" Facebook phenomenon is problematic. In a nutshell:

cleolinda also made a post about it, where a great discussion took place in the comments.

If you go to my Facebook profile, you can also see the discussion I had with my friend about how this "game" doesn't serve to increase awareness. I asked people to post articles instead, if they really wanted to raise awareness. (A few people Liked my post and certain comments I made, but no one posted an article to raise awareness.)

Last year, I just ignored it. This year, I had the fresh memory of my great-aunt going through treatment, so I couldn't. If you're going to be a slacktivist (courtesy of a commenter on cleolinda's post), at least do something that's actually effective in disseminating information.
