In an interesting twist of fate this morning, we were doing a double debate in a school : me and Christophe (who also has lots of experience) ended up with the quiet, overall very tolerant group while the two relatively new debaters ended up with the raucous, hostile group. Well, at least it was a good way for them to take things into their own ( Read more... )

A gay character in a Disney movie is not going to happen anytime soon, because a lot of people consider the issue should not be debated in movies for a young audience. Nevermind if the point is not to debate anything but juste have a gay/lesbian character there. (is still traumatised by this argument in the letters at the end of Young Avengers) (is still in love with doctor who for the very opposite reason)
As far as interracial couple goes, I'm afraid you're right, and wikipedia aggees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fictional_interracial_couples), there is only Pocahontas (and the Road to Eldorado for Dreamwork)
At least tv shows seem to make an effort about it these days...

And I have a question not related to your post in any way : "everything that presented itself to his senses", c'est les sens 'physiques' ou c'est du genre "qui lui venait à l'esprit" à ton avis ?

Yago and Jaffar, so obvioulsy gay ^^ ! And there's on Disney with an aztec prince, he's not white. And the hero is the Lion King 2 (or 3?) has totally brown fur, that's a sign ^^.

Yago & Jaffar? SO. MANY. LEVELS. OF. WRONG. :-p :-p

Y'know, I actually thought about the Lion King 2 and Kovu, but maybe he's just darker because he's from the evil guys. ^^ But still, it's somewhere there.

And are you talking about The Emperor's New Groove? Can't remember if there's a love story but if there is, it wouldn't be interracial, they're all Indians (South American natives, whatever).
