Actually I am posting this because I promised my friend that I would write in some detail about the movie. Because I procrastinated today, I don't have a ton of time to write about it, but I will do my best.

I loved the movie too. And yes, OMG RUE MADE ME CRY SO HARD. And the salute - it got me even though I'd seen it in the trailer and knew it was coming.

Totally agree re: Haymitch and Peeta. Loved 'em, particularly in the movie. And yes, I am picking up that DVD the red-hot minute it comes out.

Something cleolinda mentioned - in a sense, there are things they could add in a visual medium (like Katniss' window in her room that could show her the woods) that wouldn't have worked in the book, so I think a lot of the additions were really amazing. Like the Seneca-Snow bits.

Yea! Yes, it's so good to hear that! Although my friends (and even Wes!) agreed that we all loved the movie. It's funny because we got into a conversation about it today at my sister's house because my teenage niece is really into the movie & books (completely obsessed) and so my sister & BIL took her to see it and my BIL hadn't read the books and I guess that everyone expected him to maybe not like it, but he still really liked it. But honestly, like my husband said today, it's almost better if you have read them first, because you get a better idea of what the background is, and what's potentially going through Katniss's mind. I loved the additions, though - I felt they complemented the story perfectly. I really hope they have extras on the DVD, though. Ack!!

Oh man. After you watch Game of Thrones, I have this wonderful Sansa Stark as Katniss Everdeen ficlet to share with you. (Didn't read your post because I want to see the movie first!)

Yes yes please send me the link. I want to read it. Although I have to admit that I find that puzzling at the moment because Sansa is so not like Katniss in my mind.... but yes, I am very intrigued now!!!

How far along are you in the TV show? When are you going to start reading the books? Do you like Sansa so far? (The fic isn't very spoilery--and when I find it I'll link it--I'm just curious!! :))

We just finished Season 1, so I believe that's the equivalent of the 1st book? I added the series to my wish list on Amazon (maybe I will get it for my birthday from my family ;) ... but right now I'm still trying to read the first book in the Wheel of Time series that Wes lent me and I have not gotten very far in that. To be honest, I have not read that much lately other than on the internet.

That being said, after finishing the last ep in the 1st season, I guess I can see Sansa going in another direction, so that should be interesting to see. Also, what's with the crack Sansa pairings? I haven't really read any fic about it yet but I dunno - maybe things will become more clear to me as we move along.

Are the books a long read or are they fairly easy? Also I love the fact that they have my family name! I used to dislike my last (maiden) name and now I'm seeing it all over the place lately ... hehehe.
