noise from my head

My intention here is to write a blog entry that makes little if any reference to the quarter-life crisis I am going through (though frankly, there is no way I am going to make it to four times my current age). So the contents of this entry will be a mishmash of pointless frivolity that has been on my mind of late. Rest assured that it is more ( Read more... )

But I feel like I am supposed to be have an opinion about the Hetalia dub. I don't. I also feel like I am supposed to have an opinion about the fandom getting bigger. I don't.
I really thought I was the only one to feel that way.
And the complaining about the fandom getting bigger is ridiculous and very unwelcoming. *clings to friends*

The Hangover was a really good movie, but I've never actually watched The Office. Would you recommend it then?

Sorry we are ruining their super special exclusive club. Not. I like what I like because I like it. And what is with everyone panicking over things becoming "the next Naruto?" I don't see the threat as being all that great, especially since Naruto is still the current Naruto. I was personally quite chuffed when a cashier at Hot Topic saw the SuFin fanart in my clear work bag and knew who they were.

I would recommend the Office to anyone and everyone. It has been my favorite TV show since the US version first aired, but none of my friends watch it. I wish you lived nearby so I could invite you to watch it with me. The ensemble cast is really great. A lot of the humor, though, is embarrassment humor, where the characters get into really awkward situations or say really awkward things and you feel embarrassed for them, but it also happens to be hilarious. Oh, and Jim/Pam is one of the cutest TV romances ever. Watch it! Watch it!

Agreed completely. I hate any wank in the fandom... barely read any of the comments on news entries and such to avoid it.

I loved the Hangover too! Hilarious xD

Also, good luck with getting a job ♥

One thing that being involved in internet fandom has really made me see is a bizarre need to be offended or dissatisfied that a lot of people seem to have. The dub wank and fandom size wank is more of what I would consider dissatisfaction, wha TV Tropes calls an Unpleasable Fanbase. But if you ever check out the sorts of entries that get linked on metafandom, they are always complaining about some great injustice and sounding off as if everyone else should be offended. I have a very hard time being offended in fandom. I prefer to enjoy things for the things I like about them not be offended by the things I don't.

For example: I think I am supposed to be offended by the way women are portrayed in The Hangover, but I am not. It's too damn funny.

Some people always look for the bad things... if you do that you can never enjoy the fandom at all. It can't be perfect, the world isn't perfect :/

We're supposed to be offended? I found far too funny to think about that at all!

I've just seen a lot of whinging about the misogyny in The Hangover, how the few female characters in it are: a sweet but vacuous stripper, a castrating uber-bitch, and a chick whose sole purpose is to look beautiful while holding a phone. The movie isn't about women, though. It is about three dumbasses who, by the end of the film, you really like for some reason.

I agree with the not paying attention to the fandom bit. I am the same way. And yay for another Office fan! I hope you get to see more episodes.
