Author's Notes: For
laeryn, for being amazing. I could say that it's because I owe her this (which I do) but that's not the real reason.
Filming in Japan was kind of nice.
Sure, it was far away from home, but roaming around was easier when there was no filming ahead. And even while they were in the midst of working it was easy to get lost, even just for a while. Get lost in the city, the streets, the people. Being known is great, but being able to walk without feeling observed was good too, once in a while.
And right now, while running away from managers and staff, like little kids, no destination in mind, just trying to get as far away as possible, was one of the best things that happened to them in a while. When they stopped running, they were on a tiny empty street, breathless.
Free.
It's just them, cold despite the running, with the sun shining above them, not making them less cold. Sungjong thinks it makes Hoya brighter, but he isn't going to say that. He is kind of mesmerized though, so when Hoya actually talks to him, he completely misses it.
"What?"
"We have almost half an hour before they notice we're missing. What do you want to do?"
And Sungjong finds that what he wants to do the most is get close to him and kiss him until they can't breath any more. But he can't do this, even if they are in a different country. They are not far enough to do this in the middle of the street.
(He thinks about it, sometimes, being able to be openly affective with Howon whenever he feels like it, not thinking about the cameras, or the fans, or how the people standing around them will feel.
Someday, he thinks)
Sungjong knows they shouldn't, but he can't help teasing Hoya a little. So he gets close, so close he can feel Hoya's hot breath on his own face. He marvels in how fast his eyes seem bigger when he's surprised, and how his pupils grow bigger when he gets even closer and their noses touch.
"I think..." Sugjong whispers. Slowly, watching every change in Hoya's eyes "you know exactly what I want to do"
When, even if surprised, against his best judgment, Hoya doesn't take a step back, Sungjong knows he could do whatever he wanted right there and Hoya would follow him.
But he's not that stupid, so he just joins their lips together, just a second, before he takes a step back and smiles (that innocent smile he does for the cameras, the one that everyone but him buys, the one that hides every secret in the world)
"I think I want some ice-cream"
Hoya looks so confused after that, the only thing Sungjong can do is laugh at him (because if he doesn't laugh, he'll get closer again and kiss him until all the confusion is gone) while he walks away. He can hear Hoya's laugh when he does and he can't help but smile, a real one this time.
Hoya catches up fast, walking by Sungjong's side in a second and when looks at him, he's smiling too.
"A place that sells ice-creams in the middle of December..." he starts, looking at the sky, not really seeing it "I think I might know a place like that"
"Oh, really?"
He really doesn't and he thinks Hoya knows that, but he plays along. He always does.
"The loser pays for them"
He starts running before he finishes that phrase, and he's laughing even before that, speeding up his pace when he hears Hoya's scream behind him. Sungjong knows he can't beat him on a race, but he tries anyway, dodging Hoya's arms when he tries to catch him.
It never hurt trying.
(Hoya does catch him, in the end)
And if they end up breathless, kissing on a dark alley, all ice-cream forgotten in favor of having Hoya so close to him...
Well, it was never about the ice-cream.
