I'm curious because I've seen them in the bakery - what IS a red velvet cake? It sounds yummy (and that looks great!) but I haven't been game to try it.
The recipe calls for buttermilk and 60 mL (yes 60) of red food colouring, hence the red colour. Otherwise it was a pretty normal cake recipe. It was really moist and with the cream cheese icing it was delicious. The colour was incredible too, you could make it any colour really.
