Have you read I hate you don't leave me ? It was recommended to my family by a family friend who was also a therapist after I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar. (He felt the diagnosis was wrong and thought that borderline personality disorder fit me much better or what not) I own it, but because so much of it hits home, I've read very very little.
I've just started Septembers of Shiraz by Dalia Sofer, which is quite good so far.
I read The Hobbit a few years back, didn't mind it. I've never really gotten the hype about Tolkien's writing myself. I find the LOTR books positively excruciating.
The style between the two is quite different. The Hobbit is a lot easier to read, imo. I didn't really have an issue with the first book in the LOTR series, but I got seriously stalled trying the second one. It probably sat around untouched for about a year before I finally forced myself to pick it up again. I'd read one chapter a night and then go on to something more enjoyable, just to get it done. I'm not willing to even try the third.
I just recently finished In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, Fight Club by Chuck Palahinuk, and Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. (I am on vacation this week!)
I really liked The Hobbit, but could only take it at pieces at a time. I read the first LoTR and thought it was pretty good too, but just never continued with the series...I will one day though. I love the movies.
