See, I don't think I was clear enough on that point. I'm still going to ship John/Teyla, but I'm just a bit of a canon!whore.
I'm distinctly uncomfortable with the view promoted by certain J/T fans that Teyla is patiently waiting for John to get over his kirking stage and see her there, so adoring of him that he just has to fall in love with her...
I didn't even think of the double standard when I posted. My ship never felt threatened when John went around having girlfriends, but the minute Teyla does it I'm all up in arms. Ugh. *headdesk* And here I was, all about promoting multilayered females a few weeks ago...
But you're right, Teyla does deserve a romance or at least some personal development after three years. I think it'd be good for her character.
I need to stop doing the paniac dance, really...

It's okay. You get used to this after a few years in fandom.
Particularly in Stargate fandom, where they always hint and never conclude.
I figure if John's able to go around sexin' up the alien chicks (who aren't Teyla), then Teyla should have her fair share of admiration, flirtation, and if John has a pang or a dozen watching her come out of someone else's tent or room in the morning, then there's angst possibilities!
I'm a canon!whore at heart, too. But this is Stargate - no relationship between the main cast will ever be canon.

*sigh*
I suppose I should get used to it then. Really, my past fandoms have spoiled my immensely.
