NaNo 2011

Oct 26, 2011 12:52

I skipped doing NaNoWriMo last year to work on my thesis (lol) and I'd like to do it again this year, but I don't really have an original fic idea nor a big, long fic idea I could work on for 50,000 words.

Anyone have any ideas for alternative writing options for NaNo?

You could just do a bunch of one shots or something that add up to 50k total? That's essentially what my plan is... Or the mermaid AU. /innocent whistle

But I've got parts of the mermaid AU written already so it doesn't count. ;_______;

I think one-shots are probably the way I'm going to go. Either that, or try to finish DD.

Pfft, you've got parts of DD written too! Though yes, I would approve of this greatly as well :D

I can't help it, I liked the mermaid AU WIP way too much okay ;___;

I have less of it written it for later chapters than to do for the mermaid AU. I was trying to think of a way to turn that into an original fic too, but my brain wouldn't let me name the characters anything else.

I second the idea of a bunch of short pjo fics that equal 50k words.

I'm not officially signing up for NaNo this year (at this stage) but I know Chelle is and I was planning to word war with her most days. For me it wouldn't really be about getting one complete story done, but more about having a commitment to writing every day regardless of what I'm writing and regardless of whether I do anything with it?

BASICALLY RACHEL'S IDEA?

That's basically what I want to do too? I just feel like I've been slacking on my creative work forever.

Yeah, it can be hard to get back into the swing of it and actually having a set daily goal and sticking to it can work wonders.

I just set up a calendar of November and had my flist pick a day they wanted and give me a fandom+prompt. It'll keep me busy writing all November and will definitely be 50k altogether.

... so, yeah, basically what saturninepen said :D:D:D:D

Man, I was thinking about snagging your idea. But I'm terrible at filling at prompts in a timely fashion.
