Okay, so I finally got my hands on the thing and I'm nowhere near finished at this point (I'm on page 211), but I had Some Thoughts about everything that's happened so far that I wanted to share. Again, if you've finished, please be mindful of spoilers and all that.

...Not that I'm squeezing in computer time when I should be getting ready to look for spoilers myself.

I've finished the book. It's nearly 6:30 am where I live. I need some sleep, but damn. Times like this make me wish I hadn't discovered the series till all the books were out, like with PJO. *sighs*
However..............we DO only have 6 more months or so till we get another Kane Chronicles book. *grins*

And...really? We're still doing the Annabeth/Luke dance? Why is it even necessary? Annabeth told everyone in book five that Luke was like a brother, which is totally consistent with how she treated him and thought about him for the previous two books. So why--you know what? Just forget it. I love RR, but there are some things he does not do well.

I want to say this is one of Jason's character quirks because he's kind of bad about estimating ages instead of RR's astounding lack of detail recall and that he has shitty editors who aren't catching these kinds of things. Or maybe Thalia DID look fifteen at twelve, idk, I need to stop with excuses.
Jason doesn't know anything about the Annabeth/Luke dynamic, though, so whatever tone Annabeth had in her voice he probably just interpreted as romantic anyway.

On the second point, since Percy was pretty much entirely unable to distinguish between types of affection and assumed every thought Annabeth had about Luke meant she was in love with him, I can get on board with Jason thinking similarly. I do wonder, though, if it's an underlying RR thing. I sometimes wonder if he couldn't make up his mind about what was up with Luke and Annabeth, and if what we saw previously and apparently continue to see regarding the thoughts of other characters on that relationship is a reflection of his lack of a clear direction. That being said, I feel like he did give it a clear resolution, and should therefore stick with that.

You're about 100 pages ahead of me so I can't speak about them questing or anything but I can say this :LEO VALDEZ IS AWESOME AND I WANT TO BAKE HIM COOKIES!! His gift?! Loves it. And I love the way his tour gave us an emotional link to some of the campers that were lost (namely Beckendorf). Also how cool is Rachel and Annabeth's friendship? So glad RR decided to go that route instead of having them be all distant and unfriendly.
And I would like to live in Cabin Nine please. And play with the dragon. That is all.

I hope Jason/Piper gets better, otherwise I'm going to start shipping her with someone else.

BUT SERIOUSLY ABOUT THE "WHY ARE THEY NOT EVEN LOOKING FOR PERCY, WTF."
Though, I think I can safely say I can forgive Nico's nonexistence in this book now that they've explained where he is.
I need more people to finish this so I can rant and discuss with them :| SO MUCH TO RANT AND DISCUSS.
