Stick Shift (Drive)
A/N: I have no idea how to drive a stick shift. So I apologize in advance for anything I got wrong.

“Okay, push the clutch all the way down, put the car in first gear and slowly take your foot off the clutch,” Jackson said, watching as Ashley followed his directions.

The car started to move forward and Ashley grinned. She hit the gas pedal and they moved a little faster across the parking lot. “Now put your foot back on the clutch and move it to second gear,” Jackson said, putting his hand over hers to help her.

They continued moving smoothly and Ashley turned to look at Jackson. “I’m doing it,” she said excitedly as Jackson kissed her cheek.

Teddy Bear (Sweet)
Ashley wiped at her teary eyes as Jackson kissed her softly. “We’ll be back together before you know it,” Jackson whispered.

“I know,” Ashley said softly. “It still sucks though.”

“Well, I have something for you,” Jackson said, handing Ashley a small gift bag.

Ashley eyed him carefully and pulled a teddy bear from inside the bag. “Aww, Jackson,” she said, smiling.

“He can travel everywhere with you and sleep with you when I can’t,” Jackson told her, smiling a little sadly.

Ashley kissed him again. “Thank-you,” she whispered against his mouth. “This is the best present I’ve ever gotten.”

Home (Land)
Jackson carefully removed the blindfold covering Ashley’s eyes. Ashley blinked and then looked out at the expanse of land in front of them-it was a gorgeous area and Ashley could see the sparkling ocean stretching out in front of them.

“What’s this?” she asked.

“It’s ours,” Jackson said. “I bought it. And I figured we could build the home we’ve always wanted.”

For a second, Ashley was silent and Jackson worried that he had acted rashly, that he should have talked to her first but then she threw her arms around him and kissed him. “It’s perfect,” she whispered.

Hard Wood Floors (Slick)
Ashley heard giggling from downstairs and she walked towards the living room to investigate. She peeked around the corner to find Jackson, Jack, and Molly wearing socks and running and sliding across the slippery floor.

Ashley smiled to herself as she watched them. New hardwood floors had been put in just this morning and Molly and Jack had been playing on them all day.

As Molly crashed into the couch, Ashley laughed out loud. “Mommy!” Molly called. “Come play with us,” she said.

Ashley slipped off her shoes as Jackson, grinning, took her hand and pulled her across the floor.

Sick (Malaise)
Jackson held Molly’s dark hair away from her face as she puked into the toilet. She turned to her father with teary eyes and Jackson wished he could make her feel better.

“It’s okay, baby,” Jackson said, pulling Molly’s shivering body close to his.

Jackson picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. “Poor baby,” Ashley said, putting her hand to Molly’s forehead. “She’s still got a fever.”

“Mommy,” Molly muttered.

Jackson and Ashley’s eyes met and Ashley pulled the blankets down on their bed, the three of them getting under the covers and settling Molly in between them.

Your Song (Smoke)
“Hey Jackson, what’s up?” Ashley asked, coming into Jackson’s room.

“Um, nothing,” Jackson said, hurriedly setting his guitar down and pushing the paper he had been writing on out of the way.

Ashley looked at him curiously. “Were you writing a song?”

Jackson shrugged. “Just messing around. You wanna go grab dinner?” he asked.

Ashley nodded. “Great, let me just go to the bathroom,” he said. When the door shut, Ashley moved the papers around so she could see the word “Smoke” written at the top and the words “I love you much too much” scrawled over and over again.
