So, friendslist/dreamroll mine ... I need a home computer.  All I really ever use my home compy for is surfing the web, writing fic, and entering grades into Excel (oh, and the occasional foray into PowerPoint, though mostly I use my work computer for that), so I don't need a ton of processing power. I also don't want to spend a lot of money.

My advice? Buy from Costco. (okay, you don't get the cool colors that way) But you do get an awesome 2 year warranty, which I have used and it worked great.

Can't help with the Netbook thing because I don't have one, but ever since I got my laptop for Christmas I can't imagine how I went without for so long.

Tho, I thought Netbooks were strictly internet usage only, and you couldn't put things like Excel or Office on them? How different from a Laptop are they besides the obvious (size/processing power)?
