Wow, this has been a long time coming.
This here is my adventure into the world of original fiction. When I posted the first part there wasn't a name. Now there is, it's called Fog. It's unbetaed for now (my plan is to one day finish it and make real chapter length chapters and continuity and stuff). Until then we have Part 2 in which Julian is

OK, I'll hit the highlights. It's lines like the following that make me salivate:
"Julian makes a valiant but incredibly unsuccessful effort to read"
"a new hair cut on an old friend and suddenly they look like a rock star"
"Watch the conversation unravel before his eyes, like a sweater on a nail"
"somehow managing to tangle their legs together"
Did you have a hard time writing this? Because you make it look so easy. I. Am. Jealous.
This Julian character is really starting to come to life, and he is so identifiable, so deliciously flawed in his own reasoning, once again, he is so familiar. To think that in two paragraphs "He somehow...soy milk" you have ideally described something we all have felt. And you did it in such a way that it seems new. It's like looking at yourself in the mirror on acid or something. I really don't know how to describe it. It is so intimate ( ... )

I will most definitely be continuing (and hopefully finishing) this. Even if it takes years.
Man, oh man, I think I could live on feedback like this alone, and I've been trying to compose a response that's not just me flailing and makes some sort of sense but *flails* your comments are like crack and I can't focus. Just. Eeeeeeeeeeeee! Thanks soSO much!!!!!! XD

I've got years, baby. (I hope!) But I would be lying if I said I wasn't a wee bit antsy. ;)
Take your time. And allow me to stress once more that you freakin' rock. Flail all you want to. I know I did!

It's pouring outside, and by the time he makes it to the cafe his shirt is soaked through, but the chai is warm and just-right spicy. He wishes he could wrap himself in the foam, a cloud of cardamom cinnamon milk fuzz, and stop his brain churning.
*sighs*
I love this, I hope this continues. Rather curious what's up with Kimball and .. Michael. wow. Michael is wonderful.
He’d always thought the name Michael was boring, average, until he met this particular one. Michaels (and even more commonly Mikes) had been a dime a dozen at school. Julian had always thought of it as a fall back name for unimaginative parents, but this Michael - Julian actually thinks of him as his Michael when he’s not paying attention - is somehow different. Suddenly the name has dimension, seems even vaguely exotic. Something old seen in an entirely new light, a new hair cut on an old friend and suddenly they look like a rock star.THERE! This is just! PERFECT! I love this paragraph and I want to cuddle it and take it ( ... )

From a surname which was derived from the Welsh first name Cynbel meaning "chief war" or the Old English first name Cynebald meaning "royal boldness".

Okay, with the above you have just made my month. There is no way any amount of fangirlishness in a review could ruin anything in my book. I mean fangirling, or whatever, is just superexcited appreication the way I figure it (and I know all about that as that's how I am with anything I really love). So yeah, a good thing and very encouraging which I need. (and your review to this story which I haven't really thought about all that much in months reminds me that I've got the beginning and end of the next chapter written and really should get on figuring out the middle so thanks for that).
heh. I did know about the name. I must admit I'm a total dork and did some research into meanings in order to find one suitable for the character that was in my head. That's why he's just Mr. Blue Silk til the very end of the first bit.
Thanks so much. :D
