play your neighbor, play your part. saved on paper, it makes for art

This is an odd sort of thing but I kind of like it. Harry war!fic set some indeterminate time post HBP. The war has been going on for a while. Lots of walking through Eastern Europe and strange time shifts, implied character death. You could consider it apocalyptic if you wanted to (I do). I had originally titled this Twilight but then Time of No Read more... )

harry potter fic, fic, harry, apocific

Oh. That was a very dark look into war-torn wizarding world. Somehow the idea of Harry making his way through everything alone is very plausible. Also, there's something about AK Snipers that is so very Muggle-like.

Excellent writing. Even though you killed poor Ron, I loved this. ^^

The idea for this, and Harry going alone, actaully came to me before HBP so I was very pleased when canon Harry said that that's what he wanted to do. And I'm glad it works fo you too.

Thanks. & I didn't kill just Ron, lots of others died as well. Not that that's terribly comforting. heh. :)

Yep, that works as apocalypse fic for me. Shiny (in a grim, colourless, hopeless kind of way)! Enjoyed it. I especially liked this:

Triumph, banners flying, high level planning meetings and discussions in which he has valuable insight and opinions to offer. Schemes. He and Ron and Hermione together through it all.

Love how to you counter this romaticised idea with the reality. Very atmospheric fic.

Yay! I'd kind of wondered if it was more me reading the apocalypse into everything than this being actual apocalypse worthy. Glad it works. Grim, colourless, hopeless shiny totally works for me. :D

Thanks so much.

It wasn't just you thinking it was apocalypsy! Also, I see you posted it on apocalypse_latr, so yay!!

Yikes.

You've really created the atmosphere in this. It's so... grey. Not gray, but grey, and kind of bluish green at the same time, even though it's still dusty. (Maybe it's your green background? *g*) Love the snake imagery, and, oh, the language imagery, too. And the location alliteration, =perfect. It's so hopeless and dreary, and there's life and death everywhere at the same time. Very nicely done. <3<3

Whee! I'm so glad you get all of that from this 'cause hopeless and dreary, and there's life and death everywhere at the same time is totally what I was going for. :D Also, I love your moody Hogwarts icon.

I like this a lot. The imagery is very stark, and yet appropriately jumbled at the same time. And I love the idea of Harry following Nagini!

Thanks! I'm very pleased you found the jumbleness appropriate, sometimes I worry that the things I write are too disconnected and cryptic and it's nice to know it came out okay.

ooh, i like this, yum. esp. If he stopped to think about it - and he won't - he would realize that he doesn't know what he expected. because i know, la, how that goes: and The only difference between walking and falling is that the next foot follows the first. which is one of those lines that sticks in the corner of my brain for days&days. mmm, *happysounds*

heh, yeah. Me too.

That line is my favourite in the whole fic (and one of the first bits I wrote) so of course it's the one that sticks in your brain. :D & it pleases me muchly that it does. *happysounds right back*
