Just simple flat steel rings, I think they're using in plumbing.

Wow. That is ingenious! How awesome that they match exactly and you didn't go and buy those lame-o prefab Cover-A-Button kits that (at least in my experience) are annoying and difficult to make work right! And they also had a shank-type loop on the back to attach them to the garment which I never liked.

I love this idea! :)

I stole the idea from somewhere on the web - and besides, the shape is pretty close to 18th century button shapes. I tried the Cover-A-Button kits and couldn't make them work, they're always coming undone.
