Summary: Feelings are like masks we put on to convey our inner depth. But sometimes it turns out we use those masks to hide our real feelings...
How well can Jin read Kazuya's feelings; and in return, how much does Kazuya really understand Jin? After being together for so long, things start to change, and feelings start to disappear behind masks...
A/N: English isn't my mother tongue, but I've been living in the UK for quite a time, so I basically write and speak well. You're welcome to correct any mistakes, though. Of course.

Okay.
Okaaaaaay~ I am back with Akame. This is only the prologue, though, and I won't yet advertise this fanfiction in any community. Chapter one needs to be done first, before I start anything like that and also, Moments needs to reach its final stage first.
Anyways, I am happy to finally write Akame again; I truely missed it.
For
naomi0211 because she always, always inspires my Akame muse ♥ Thank you! I love you.
And for everyone who read Fade Into The Background and always left me such lovely comments and encouragements to write on!

A/N#2: Kamen (仮面) is Japanese for Mask.

Prologue

It’s been a long and hard day for Jin.

He’d had quite some work promoting his new movie, having voice training and interviews and photo shoots.

It was not as if he was minding it; it was his job and he’d been doing it for half his life by now. He enjoyed it; he loved it, but that didn’t change the fact that it stressed him out on days like this.

Worn out and tired he opened the door to his apartment and got in, lazily kicking off his shoes. Thinking about eating something, he stumbled into his kitchen, opened the fridge and decided on a beer, instead of cold Chinese take away from the other day.

He wasn’t that hungry at all, if he thought about it.

Opening the can, Jin walked over into his living room. He’d have the morning off the next day, so he would probably watch some TV or he would decide to go out.

He switched on the TV first, but froze as he turned around then.

Kazuya was lying on his sofa, sleeping, face buried in a small pillow. His hair was slightly messy, his lips opened. A can of beer was set at the small table in front of him. Jin got over and lifted it slightly, shaking it and finding it was empty.

He sighed and knelt in front of the younger man then, gently stroking the strands of brunette out of his face.

Kazuya slowly shifted, mumbled something, before he opened his eyes and looked at Jin. “You’re back.”

The older one nodded. “Bring your own beer next time.”

A light grin spread over Kazuya’s face as he made some space for Jin to join him at the couch. The other one didn’t hesitate to do so. “You can’t drink it all by yourself, anyways.”

Jin didn’t answer, just nuzzled close to Kazuya, lying next to him now. “I guess I’ll have a nap.”

“Why don’t we go to bed?”

“Now, that I just made myself comfortable here?” Jin shook his head. “I’ll nap here first.”

Kazuya sighed, but smiled, as he held Jin, the older one’s face comfortably resting at his shoulder. He ran his hand trough the dark brunette hair. “A long day?”

Jin nodded. “I had a performance at some fashion show. Plenty of pretty girls there.”

“Which part of our job doesn’t involve pretty girls?”

“Oh, but models, Kazuya”, Jin corrected him. “Not like those girls, fans, coming to our concerts. Pretty models all around me backstage.”

Kazuya laughed slightly, his fingers now caressing Jin’s neck. “And you enjoyed it, didn’t you?”

“Of course, I did. They were all looking at me. I was probably the only man there who didn’t carry a lipstick in a handbag or moved like Marilyn Monroe. In other words, the only one who wasn’t gay.” It remained silent for a moment, Kazuya’s hand stopped pleasuring Jin, then the older one added: “Okay, at least not obviously gay.”

Again, a laugh. “But after all, you came back here; back to me.”

“Well, I came back to my apartment.” Jin closed his eyes and pressed a kiss to Kazuya’s neck. “I didn’t know I’d find you here.”

“I’m lucky then you didn’t bring one of those pretty models?” There was something in the brunette’s voice, Jin couldn’t quite construe.

To calm the situation, to not let this turn into anything more than some foolish joking, Jin said: “Why would I? I have my own pretty model here, don’t I?”

He felt Kazuya relaxing beneath him again. “I prefer to call it Dream Boy.”

Jin laughed. “How is it going?”

“It’s fun”, the younger male said and shifted, his fingers toying with the buttons of Jin’s vest. “As always.”

“I’ve heard you do quite some dangerous stuff there.”

“Some, but it’s okay.” Kazuya closed his eyes, enjoyed Jin tracing kisses along his jaw line and neck. “Tegoshi’s dying of admiration. That’s worth it.”

Jin chuckled, before his moves got lazy. “When do you have to leave tomorrow?”

Kazuya nuzzled closer. “Around noon.”

Nodding slightly, Jin breathed in his lover’s scent. “Then, let’s nap for a bit”, he murmured, feeling Kazuya embracing him. “We have the whole night to spend together.”

Kazuya rested his cheek on Jin’s soft hair, nodded as well. “Mhm…” His voice was low, he was drifting into sleep. „We’ll still have the morning, too.“

It's short, I know, but I don't want to post much more yet. It's just like a teaser for what you may expect from this fanfiction.
Thank you for reading!
