greys_prompts is beginning to have an awful lot to answer for

break-up sex is not a new concept
grey's anatomy- ellis/richard. (not my characters) pg-13.

“Ellis,” he starts, because they can be friends, right?

“Don’t Ellis me Richard.” Or maybe not.

Nonetheless he tries again, for nostalgia’s sake, ‘Ellis, we need to talk.”

“No Richard, we don’t. You broke up with me, remember? Broken Hearts Club membership rights are suspended.”

-

There are times where they’re still Richard and Ellis, she thinks. In the OR, when he forgets and she forgets and everything’s just the way it should be.

It’s midnight on a Wednesday night Thursday morning and somehow they’re being civil. If, she thinks, civil is synonymous with brazen flirtation.

-

She catches him outside OR 2’s gallery (where 25 years later he’ll watch another Dr. Grey pick up a scalpel) and she’s flushed. Giggling. Like she was the first time, but he doesn’t want to think about that.

“I broke up with Thatcher for you.” Her breath smells (stinks) of tequila and she’s swaying gently on the spot.

She’s wearing lipstick, Richard notices and she grins, “Then you broke up with me. Karma’s a bitch.”

He has no self control. But, then again, neither does she.

-

She should not be here. She should not be here. She should not…

He’s here, there and everywhere when he’s in-between her thighs and she’s never going to be able to examine a patient in Exam Room 1 again.

-

Technically they’ve broken up and the first time, she tries to laugh it off.

But the problem with first times is that they’re rarely the last.

end.
