This is what I get told my a lot of the translators (the one whose posts I read most, anyway). A lot of canon information in FFVII is being retconned in favor of new canon. While I cannot say I hate the new Compilation as much as everyone else, the appearance of Gackt and Angeal and all this crap is making me kind of :/ about it all. There are some things I like, but the Jenova cells shit? The Buster Sword being more than a phallic symbol? Gackt? I do not like this over-writing old canon

I'd want it. You know, when all this new stuff wasn't too bad yet and wasn't screwing over the game royally... But now I'm certain that Gackt would be in the game as a hidden boss, Vincent and Yuffie wouldn't be optional, and there would be lots of sidequests about G-cells or whatever. And and and at least fifty people would have one wing. Like, Don Corneo would be the One-Winged Pimp, Mukki would be the One-Winged Bubby, and Mr. Dolphin would be... You get the point.

I... I can't defend it any more. Most of this is just silly.

Yeah, like, the script seems to imply he actually cares about Zack and has friends. I was afraid they'd make him stone cold and completely devoid of personality so that he would seem BADASS even before he goes wacko.

Might I also add that I hate the interpretation of Sephiroth as this calm, collected mastermind. The Complication doesn't do it so much, but the fanboy interpretation and whacking off when Nomura said he was "toying with Cloud" in AC. *EYEROLL*

But, are they also retconning the fact that Sephiroth only knows the name "Jenova" as being that of his dead mom? JENOVA should be top secret, period flfkmsd.

I haven't seen enough of Sephiroth yet omg MISSIONS addicted to missions, but, the little intimations- like him not doing that mission to not fight them? A++++.

Lolololllll, he wasn't even very good at that while crazy, since he'd randomly SPEECH AT YOU and LAUGH WITH CRAZY SHOULDERS (..okay he does that too sane), and lol it was pointed out to me that sometimes he walks and sometimes he runs to stab Tseng flsadmals

Yeah, I have no idea about that. I just know that it's been stated time and again once inconsistencies with the original game are brought up that CC is retconning a lot of previously instated canon. It's not just that. That awful Aerith novella? It's not listed as part of the Compilation titles on SE's website or something whereas the other novellas are. In addition to Aerith and Zack clearly being more serious than Maiden might lead us to believe, it also writes Hojo as dead while he apparently "comes back" in some form during Dirge of Cerberus. So, yeah. Like everything in the Compilation screws over... I mean retcons something else, it seems. I have trouble keeping up with the actual storyline sometimes. Which I why I don't discuss much anymore

I don't understand why they would allow some of the novellas, but not that one. To eliminate its dismissal of Zack/Aerith? mfdklasfnm Crisis Core is making me really pissed off and very, very disinclined to treat it like canon.

I didn't mean to imply that Sephiroth was a puppet, only that SOLIDER shouldn't all be Jenova Cells or at least, THEY SHOULDN'T ALL KNOW AND TALK ABOUT IT CASUALLY.

I heard a lot of things about DoC that made me veer far, far from it, and while my hatred of AC is mostly a peripheral, sort of sucked from others and lol following the elistic crowd thing, the retcon of OG info and GAACKKKT is making me really upset with Crisis Core.

In sum, I agree completely with your complaints and actually agree also with what you do not dislike - I feel neutral about the remnants and thought Denzel cute.

Haha, see above post. I don't mind AC so much because I don't think it ruined too much beyond LOL PRETTY OMG WE NEED NEW ANGST. But then it just got sillier and sillier. DoC does have an awesome "GO, PLANET" scene, tho.
