Oh, Merlin. Some days I hate being related to you two.

[So. Mortified.]

We already know that plan wouldn't work.

[Remember that discussion, Ginny? About your boyfriend going mental? Still relevant.]

[ Ohhhh, she's mad. All that stress relief that welding earlier gave her? Gone. In its place is one short brunette with a tight jaw, one of No Name's cigarillos hanging out of it, and a hideous, terrible plan. ]

An opportunity, huh?

[ Excuse her as she marches up, pulls the cigarillo out to hang in her hand, grabs the twin with two ears and lays one on him. ]

Thanks Fred. That was a real opportunity.

[Yeah, this is George standing speechless for quite a few moments. He shakes himself out of it just as she moves away.]

Ariadne...

[ Cigarillo back in her mouth, hair mussed up because while she may not have been looking for the opportunity, it certainly came knocking, and steel-toed boots. Scarier men than George Weasley have quivered in fear at this sight, or at least made sure she had an omelet for breakfast instead of a crepe (not that Yusuf is particularly threatening, but she knows what he can do with chemicals). She pauses, though, and while her voice is still hard, there's a slight shake to her hand as she pulls the cigarillo out of her mouth to speak -- not because she can't speak with it in her mouth, but because, well, it's George. ]

Did you want something?

[Fuck. That's basically all that's running through George's mind at the moment. He has no idea what he can even say at this point. All he knows is that he can't let her walk away. Not like this.]

Look, I -

[A hand goes to the back of his neck. It's moments like this, when he's at loss for words, that he usually lets Fred take over. But he can't let Fred take over for this one. He suddenly feel exactly like he used to back home. Frighteningly alone. It hits him like a bucket of cold water and stops him dead.]

And what would I get out of it if I were to take full advantage of this mistletoe bullshit?

Erm -- [ Well, this is a neat thing to come back to after a long not-paying-attention-to-the-City. ]

I see.

[ She's not slightly awkward because she feels a tiny pang of jealousy about someone else kissing Fred, not at all. Nor is she awkward because of ... wanting to kiss him herself. Welp. Awkward. ]

If you could be so optimistic as to call it that, George. It's quite distressing, actually, having absolutely no manner of predicting where these plants are going to present themselves! And around whom I might be when it happens... I've kept quite a tight grip on my wand, needless to say. I've yet to come across one, but I imagine some sort of hex could help... Do you think it might?

[He knows. It's part of the reason why he's doing it in the first place, innit? Which means he's got to make a joke of it. Naturally.]

You haven't seen it 'til you've seen it, love.

[That means exactly what you think it means.]
