Chandramukhi

Saw this Tamil movie called Chandramukhi yesterday, with my mum and sister and a couple of her friends. I was initially skeptical about whether I'd like it, because I'm hardly a Rajni fan. Most of the crowd was, though, and did the usual whistling and clapping etc. the way they would've in Madras or Trichy or wherever. While back home I would've ( Read more... )

Heh, yeah, half the time couldn't even understand what she was saying because I know so little Telugu, and she was screaming anyway.

Did you like it? I'm really curious to know how it was received in India.

That's really nice to hear, even though I don't put much thought into what I write these days.

I'm sure you must have felt the same when you first landed in Melbourne...a teensy bit of disappointment.

It wasn't as bad when I got here, 3 yrs back. I actually only really noticed it when I went to India last year. There was a Subway and everything. And now the goddamn Idol curse as well... it's awful.

I like how you travel (or intend to at least)... there's no point going abroad and eating fast food instead of trying the local cuisine etc. And hey, when are you coming here again woman?

Sorry about replying so late, I'm not on LJ much these days.

No, I'm not coming to India anytime soon. My brother's moving here in a month or two (he just finished his yr 12 boards), and my dad's looking to pack up and move here as soon as he can get his business running well enough over here. Mum and sis are here already.

You probably knew this already, but Chandramukhi is inspired by the Kannada movie Aptamitra which was inspired by the Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. I'm curious to see the Rajnikantized version. Good to know you liked it.

I knew it was inspired by a Malayalam movie, but didn't know the Kannada link. I'd recommend the movie to anyone, it's good fun.
