On revisiting my past and doing things never done before

It has been an interesting couple of days at the Interstellar Mayhem Command Station. Yesterday I had the opportunity to go with Jeff and experience something neither of us ever partaken in before. A Seder dinner. Yes, your favorite atheist sat among Jeff's boss' extended family and joined in one of their most sacred traditions. And despite the ( Read more... )

You went to a Passover Seder, eh?

I hated those when I was a kid.

The food tasted awful.

I used to excuse myself to go to the bathroom so's I could spit the food out into the toilet. I'd have gotten sick otherwise.

I waited till later, when everyone else was asleep, and had a bowl of Frootloops, or a
peanut butter sandwich!

The military base sounds like it was very nostalgic.

George had to do all the work around the house by age 6 or 7; that's how old he was when his mother died.

I think you and he are alike in some ways - strong, independant, and very determined.

A caretaker type.

I think you and he would have gotten along very well.

What a great post Phil.

Glad you were able to find a resemblance of your childhood memories in that old base.

I have not been on McChord AFB in years myself, probably since the mid 1990's when Mom went through cancer treatment out there.

Have memories of some of the things out at that base and she still lives not too far away from it even now as we lived about 30 minutes away during my growing up years and she is back in that community after several years in Tacoma itself.

That was a really sweet post. I went along with Joel to a Seder yesterday as well, and coincidentally enough, also my first.

I never knew that. It's a strange cool full-circle. Love it when it happens... *big moose hugs
