Yeah, I heard of this mid day at work via MSN and I have seen the Breakfast Club and Ferris Beuller's Day off and perhaps a couple of his others in the day - and in the theaters.

Some of the better teen films of the period, along with Valley Girl as portraying teens in a more realistic way in many cases with Ferris being somewhat less accurate than some of the others

Beuller was more like the fantasy that so many teens wished they could pull off. All of Hughes' youth films treated the roles with maturity and honesty, and more to the point he used actors and actresses that were very believable in those roles. You felt you were getting a good deal for your time spent watching his movies by default.

Indeed, your assessment of Ferris is exactly how I feel about the film, I mean, the opening scenes where we see all the contraptions rigged to fool his hapless parents was a big giveaway.

The Breakfast club, indeed, you felt connected to these disparate students who end up learning something from each other after a day in detention.

But I never got into the Vacation franchise, Curly Sue or the Home alone franchise because just judging by the trailers, it was comedy for comedy's sake I felt, sad, really.

I've seen just about all of John Hughes movies.

My favorite will always be the Breakfast Club.

The casting was spot on.

Story is excellent.

The actors were believable.

Dialogue is witty, true to how teens talk and behave, and amusing.

I can watch that movie once a month, and not get sick of it.

Sad that he died...
