Face ==> book

Okay. I want some really convincing reasons as to why I should sign up for Facebook like so many others are doing. Since I havent signed up, I have no idea what one's Facebook pages look like, because one has to be a member in order to see them. The latter violates my spirit of openness on the 'net. With almost daily stories about some app or ( Read more... )

To me, it serves the same basic purpose as having a myspace - most people have either or. Facebook seems more complicated, Myspace I'm barely using - not sure what the benefit of having that is -- except I got back in touch with a few relatives and friends I haven't seen in years.

I have both. Overall I feel like the programming, design, and implementation is MUCH better at facebook. The one nice thing about facebook's 'privacy' (you *can* set things public) is that, in my experience, you tend to get a lot less unwanted friending and spam.

The drawback is, of course, that it *is* redonkulous always running into things that are blocked off. :/

I have a facebook page. I use it to play Scrabble and a word game called WordTwist on it. Some of my game buddies go back to high school, some I only know the LJ, the internet or the Facebook site.

The interface is surprisingly funky. Things stick. The chat feels like 1995. I was put on a mailing list of pretty bears in London who must have had a really fun time about ice skating 'cause they kept talking about it- messages forwarded to my e-mail address.

I still am there playing scrabble.

The feature that puts an activity statement on your chat window when you're online and on your home page is Twitter-ish, but not as stalker-y to me: i.e., "Phil is assembling a new super server". Usually there are no great surprises there. But I did leave a message for friends who lost their father when I knew they had a heavy travel schedule and I didn't want to intrude.

Sounds like a pretty ambivalent recommendation? But if you were on there, I would add you. So you decide.

PS-- I love the icon
