Author's Notes: From my existential thoughts about the movie which was my favorite movie all my life until LotR supplanted it in 2001. I never believed that the ending meant it was all Dorothy's dream-- only that everyone around her thought it was only her dream. But what if it wasn't her dream at all?
Whose Dream Is It, Anyway?
He knows he's a fraud and a humbug. But it's only dream people he's conning. This place cannot be real. He's been trapped in this dream for so long… He looks at those in front of him, and knows he can't magic up their wishes. He watches them cower --all but the strangely defiant little girl. Is she real?
"Bring me the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West."
He's not cruel, he's not sending real people to their deaths. It's all a dream, isn't it? But that little girl, with her talk of "Auntie Em"...is she real?
