Thank you very much. Poor Mike indeed. This little ficlet had two other abortive incarnations until he emerged as the saviour. At least in this case he wasn't in any real danger, Rumpelstiltskin just enjoys a bit of sport...

You know, that's the funny thing about prompts. Until you mentioned it, the other use of 'straw' never even occurred to me. I was just amazed at how well the five words lent themselves to a Rumpelstiltskin/Belle story!
