I feel I should ask for a member of the medical staff. However, the prospect of asking for a... Doctor leaves me with a distinct feeling of discomfort.

Perhaps it's due to the nature of my... Condition. Whoever was responsible clearly didn't do a particularly good attempt at repair. Only one arm remains functional.

I have a book on medicine in my room, but I appear to be more interested in mental health than physical.

Do you think it might be psychosomatic? Or that you might have something more wrong with you than, begging your pardon, just the arm?
