Baker Street Memories

It was the aroma from the Persian Slipper that Dr Watson first felt as he woke groggily from his enforced slumber. He gingerly picked himself off the floor and rubbed the back of his head and winced in doing so. Watson sat down in his chair and groaned. Looking around the room he saw the familiar sights of the living room, the hanging picture of the waterfall that had sent chills down his spine on more than one occasion. The jacknife in the mantelpiece from which the Persian slipper hung. How DOES Holmes get away with that? Thought Watson wryly. His eyes cast down on the poker that had been used to knock him out the night before. Dr Roylett had managed to bend that once. Holmes had straightened it out again. Thirsty, Watson staggered over to the sideboard and poured out a glass of water and grimaced as a trickle of blood oozed down his head. Hazel eyes caught sight of a violin case. Music that soothed him on difficult days. Maths turned into beauty. Professor Moriarty would never grasp that.

As his vision began to blur, he stumbled and fell. Strong hands caught him and as darkness claimed him once more, all thoughts of leaving had vanished. He loved 221B, his Home.
