Philosophers like to argue about universal constants, such as truth, beauty, and justice. Scientists also like to argue about these things, but they discuss things like gravity and entropy. Real universal constants are rarer than either group claims, and frequently so obvious as to escape notice. One of the most blatant (and overlooked) of the genuine universal constants is also one of the most widespread (and annoying): hiccups.
