So a dear friend of mine who's been watching Show finally, after months of mulling over it, asked for fic recommendations. I warned her. I told her outright that sure, first it's just ooooone little canon-aligned gen episode tag, but soon you're on your hands and knees in the bathroom snorting uncut wincest off the floor, or shooting raw hooker!

Yesssss, fresh blood! \O/ And I think reasonably canon-aligned gen case!fic is a great way to get into SPN fic--before diving off the deep end and reading all the nutty things that are normal in fandom and unthinkable outside of it. :P When I first Google'd SPN fanfic, the story I ended up landing on was pdragon76's Blind Spot, which I heartily and nostalgically recommend. It has more Dean H/C (which I mention because lol I think that's what Red is, too), which makes me a happy girl, but it also has great performances from Sam and JO and Nicki!Meg (the primary villain in the fic), the plotting is nice, and it's a wild immersive ride.

Definitely keep us updated on Friend's ficcing experiences/tastes! :D

I definitely will keep you posted! Thank you so much for the recommendation! She's a Dean-girl, so Blind Spot will be PERFECT (ALSO I've never read it before, so I'm excited to dive into it myself:-)). We are of one mind; I've been thinking gen canon-aligned case fics and shortfic until the bizzarity that is our fandom normalizes for her<3. Something about frogs and boiling pots...
