That's... cryptic. Everything all right?

[Cissie kind of wished she had suggested somewhere more... public for this. Some neutral ground. She didn't know what to think or feel either, and just as Sylar had warned, she was upset with him. Really upset, but at least it had been a few days since Tim had told her what he'd done. She didn't want to slap him anymore; she just wanted an explanation. When he knocked, she went to the door and took a deep breath before opening it. She leaned against it, holding it open for him, her expression carefully neutral.]

Hey. Come in.

[In a person like Cissie, where friendliness was the norm, the neutrality stood out as being potentially upset. Whether it was with him or in general, he wasn't certain; the inmate idly wondered if Tim had told her yet or if this would be a more pleasant visit.

As suggested, he moved into her room, glancing around for a couple moments before turning to face her again. Sylar wasn't good at being a friend, but he knew some things that were textbook, even if they felt unnatural..] "How are you?"

[Cissie shut the door behind them and leaned against it for a moment, considering her answer. She really didn't want to start off being hostile; putting him on the defensive wasn't a great idea.]

I'm all right. Unaffected by the flood--I think--for which I'm grateful. [She had her suspicions about Sylar, but she didn't know the whole story with Prefect anyway.] What about you?

"I'm good-- great. Prefect." [He expected that the single name would be enough to explain his mood based on their previous conversation. Anyway, he didn't feel like explaining that much more; he was interested in talking to her about Tim, or other things. Things she couldn't use against him with her friend/his warden.] "I don't even know what this flood is."

I'm not sure either. [She had a few guesses, but he was so happy about this thing with Prefect. She wished she had a better idea of what had happened there, but if he was affected, she doubted anything she said would matter. And there was the part of her that didn't especially feel like warning him. After a pause, she said,]

So. You said I'd be mad at you and asked me to hear you out instead of only listening to Tim's side of things.

[He moved forward to sit on the edge of her bed as she first spoke, looking back to her leaning against the door there. His gesture was a sign of comfort or trust in some way, and his eyebrows only twitched slightly when she changed topics so abruptly.]

"What did he tell you?" [Sylar wanted to confirm what he was dealing with before actually speaking about it.]

[She sighed, because that question really didn't surprise her.]

He said you pretended to be me.

[Sylar's eyes rolled up to the ceiling to search for the proper words to reply with, head tilting into a sort of 'well, yeah' shrug. Then his eyes returned to hers and he realized, after a second, that she was more upset than he was giving her credit for at first. Then his attitude changed to a more solemn response, rather than amused.]

"Only for a few minutes. Then I told him the truth about it, that it had been me." [It was the truth and, though his face still held a hint of arrogance, his tone seemed sincere.]

[The eyeroll and shrug, combined with the arrogant expression, set Cissie on edge and she crossed her arms, frowning at him.]

Still. You used me. Why?

[Sylar's smirk fell away and his eyebrows knitted together in confusion as he stood. His hand extended lightly toward her as a gesture of conversation, rather than any sort of potentially aggressive act. He seemed genuinely confused.] "I didn't use you."

[Her frown deepened, but his confusion at least kept her from losing her temper.]

You did. You pretended to be me because you know Tim is my friend, so you could trick him into thinking he was talking to me instead of you. You used me and my friendship with Tim to get what you wanted from him.

"It had nothing to do with you." [He said, honest as far as he was concerned. The inmate took a few steps toward her, eager for her to believe him.] "I used your friendship with him, used what I had. I wasn't using you."

[And he meant every word. All arrogance was gone from his face and he was returned to innocence in some ways, the nerdy little Gabriel that wanted so badly for her to believe him. This was not how it was meant to happen, this talk.]

[Cissie sighed and reached up to pinch the bridge of her nose. He seemed sincere, and she struggled with how to explain it. She wasn't sure she could, without telling him more about Tim and his trust issues than she was comfortable with.]

It feels that way. Like you... used me against him or something. Why couldn't you just talk to him as yourself?

[Sylar closed the remaining distance between them to be standing directly in front of her, hands awkwardly stuffed in his pockets now as his gaze was on the floor.] "I needed him to be honest, to know he wasn't lying."

[The inmate lifted his eyes to hers, appearing very much opposite the arrogant inmate she had seen before, more reminiscent of their last meeting than anything between.] "I didn't lie to you. I warned you. I didn't use you, would never use you."

[It was just really hard to remember all of Tim's warnings when he was acting like this. She wasn't sure if he was manipulating her or not, but she was pretty sure this kind of behavior wasn't something Tim ever saw. It made it hard to stay angry.]

It feels like you did. I know you warned me, but I--I didn't realize that's what you meant. And you had the ability to tell when people are lying. That wasn't enough?
