Douglas' Lawyers Blame Dad's Fame For Drug Addiction

Lawyers for Michael Douglas' son Cameron urged a judge to hand their client bail on Thursday by insisting he was pushed into a life of drugs because of his father's fame.

Cameron Douglas was arrested last August following a drugs raid on his room at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York City.

I guess I just need my motorcycle accident badge to get my papers. Yay!

That's because you're the bad girl, who lives on the edge! :-D

Wow, I didn't realize Cameron was having that sort of trouble. I agree with everything you said above, although I've heard the children of famous parents can have a really difficult time. Michael Douglas felt overwhelmed being Kirk's son, and his half brother had a ton of drug and alcohol-induced run ins with the law before he finally died of an overdose, which I'm sure is on his parents' minds and scaring the hell out of them. I really respected Carly Wilson. She was asked if her dad's problems had any effect on her own and she politely corrected the interviewer, saying that her own problems were her own and that she didn't blame her dad at all. Blaming others for your problems is an easy trap to fall into which can really keep you from taking steps to improve your own life.

Wow, it's like you were at my group therapy meeting two weeks ago! What do you look like in drag?

That's a tough one. Everything I've ever heard about the Douglass family leads me to think they're fucked up. And most people who can't get a handle on their drug addiction have an underlying mental health condition that isn't being treated for whatever reason.

That said, at age 31 you really need to get over that shit. Get the help you need and/or take responsibility for yourself. He's got a wealthy family backing him, so there's no reason he shouldn't go to a nice hospital/rehab and get his shit straight.

I definitely believe in empathy and compassion, but they can't persist in the face of an accountability void. You're dead right.

I know. Me too, in different ways. We had a session on taking responsibility a couple of weeks ago in therapy, and it was talking about stuff exactly like the above.
This past week was a lot about letting go. :) You and I are both trying to do that right now. I'll send you prayers and blessings.
