Yes You Fucking Can.

"America, we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone. At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise -- that American promise -- and in the words of Scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess ( Read more... )

A very conservative customer at my store gave me a copy of Obama Nation, since he and I have been arguing about Obama all year. He thought that poorly assembled slab of propaganda would open my eyes.

I LOVE (and by love, I mean loathe) a book that quotes bloggers. BLOGGERS!

I hope this damned book only preaches to the choir of insane right wingers, who are so set in their ways they'd never vote for Obama anyway. I hope no one is actually convinced by anything in this book.

I have to admit, I lost a lot of faith in my country when Bush was elected for a second term. I want to believe we're done with Republicans for a while. I want to believe in the hope and change Obama is promising.

What I worry about is that a lot of the voters in your country are low-information (ie they don't give a shit about politics enough to find things out for themselves). And they're suspicious enough of politicians that the books Obama has written or the true facts of his life are given as much credence as actual books or whatever people garbage like Obama Nation and whatever's spewed on Faux Noise ( ... )

That was here! 'Course, no way in hell could I get tickets, or even get in line, since you had to be there at noon, but still... The overall energy was pretty good, and even taking into account it was a bunch of like-minded people running around, the support looks pretty solid. Between the convention and McCain's apparent slow descent into senility, we just might get it right this time. I've heard at least one Republican saying they'll probably vote Obama because they're so tired of fear tactics and bludgeoning. Heeeere's hoping.

I hope so, not just for your sake but for mine.

A friend of mine asked me why I care so much about your election, since it isn't a Canadian thing. I replied as such: "I'm pretty sure Iraqis didn't give much of a shit about the 2000 election either."

Obama's speech was incredible. No skillfully-timed publicity stunt *cough*Sarah Palin*cough* will ever, ever take away from that.

Are you donating/volunteering? Please do so, if you can. Hoping in your heart is good. Hoping with your feet is even better.
