We want to have a baby, but instead of we have cats. Part of the reason we don't is because its not as easy to get pregnant as we hoped it would be. Part, though, is because of stories like these. Both of us doubt we have the internal strength to be parents. I'm great with other people's kids, but I am also happy that the kids return home at the end of the day.
Which is a long way of saying that, yes, you are a rock star.
Kate Bush wrote a song about her (then) little boy that doesn't deal with any of the horrors of parenthood, just the love.
Being a mom has weighed on me in ways I never imagined, and yet some things came to me so naturally I couldn't believe it. (For example, I am more comfortable with my kids' poop than I am with my own!)
There ARE days I wish they were going home with someone else, though! Maybe just for the night. :)
Just love this. You write so beautifully about your son, his birth, even breastfeeding while you're suffering food poisoning. And the thing that always comes through the strongest is how much you love him and how much you're prepared to go through for his good.
This is really something. It's raw and powerful and so much of your emotion comes through the words. There is so much truth here and so much love. Thank you so much for sharing it.
