Question on Files

I am interning at a new place that produces a lot of educational books and DVDs. There is a designer who works outside of the office and does all of the covers/website design/etc., but I was asked to design some posters ( Read more... )

Just ask - in cases like that, I've usually just approached whoever was assigning me the work and asking what assets were available to work with, and make specific mention of the assets you've seen in use.

I asked, they have all the files and said I could get them from him if they didn't have them, so that's good!

That's exactly how that works, and bosses are usually very pleased to have marketing materials match a product's branding and graphic identity. Most designers are happy to share materials and collaborate for this purpose.
