five ways to treat a sickness;;
"39.4 degrees Celsius," read aloud Sunggyu in monotone. "It looks like Hoya's going to have to stay back."
"A fever? Really?" Woohyun scoffed. "They say only fools catch colds in the summer."
"There are two things wrong with that statement, hyung." Myungsoo raised an eyebrow. "One, it's not summer anymore; it's autumn. Two, Hoya-hyung has a fever, not a simple cold."
"I think the only fool here is Namu~" Sungyeol sang out with a cheeky grin. He stopped singing when Woohyun threw a glare his way.
"What now, then?" Dongwoo pouted. "We've finally been given a week off... And we were planning to sightsee Japan together..." Infinite was currently preparing for promotions in Japan and had arrived in Tokyo the night before. Woollim's CEO had decided to allow the boys a week-long break in order for them to become well-acquainted with the foreign country.
At Dongwoo's words, Hoya attempted to sit up from his current lying position on the bed. "I-It's okay guys, I can make-" His words were cut off as he suddenly shook and fell back down onto his bed.
"Yeaaah, no, you're not going to make it." Woohyun raised an eyebrow as he adjusted the covers around the sick male. "Someone should stay behind with him."
The members of Infinite all looked at each other. "But who?"
At this moment in time, the maknae walked out of the bathroom with a slightly lost expression. "What'd I miss?"
"... Oh Sungjong-ah~"
i. cold showers
"Why do I always get the short end of the stick..." grumbled Sungjong as he wringed a wet towel in his hands. The rest of the Infinite members had left the hotel room, leaving behind Sungjong to nurse Hoya back to health. "It's unfair! Unfair, I say!"
"Sorry, Sungjong-ah..."
Sungjong's ears perked up as quiet words flowed out from behind him.
"I'm sorry that you can't explore Japan because of me." continued the older boy. Sungjong turned around with a guilty expression.
"I-It's not your fault that you got sick, hyung! Geez, don't apologize." With puffed cheeks, Sungjong gently transferred the cold cloth from his hands to Hoya's forehead. "Just focus on getting better, okay?"
Hoya stared blankly at Sungjong before closing his eyes. "Okay..." His voice trailed off as he fell asleep. Sungjong watched the rise and fall of the older boy's chest for a while before deciding to clean up around the hotel room a bit. Several hours later, the room was clean and Hoya had finally woken up again.
"Good morning, hyung! Or should I say 'Good afternoon' since it's past 3 in the afternoon?" Sungjong laughed as he helped Hoya sit up.
"How long have I... Been sleeping?"
"Mmm, six hours? I think you fell asleep around 9 or 9:30." The younger male suddenly brightened up as he stared at Hoya, a grin spreading across his face. "Wait, I have an idea!"
"An idea...?"
"I think I know how to make you better, hyung!"
"Uh... I don't know, Sungjong-ah... I think if you just give me some of the medicine Sunggyu left on the counter-"
"No, no, no, this should work for sure! It's a perfectly logical solution to your fever!"
With that said, Sungjong led Hoya into the bathroom, waited for the older to strip down to his boxers, and then proceeded to lead him beneath the shower head. "You want me to take a shower? Are you trying to say I smell or something, because I'm sorry that I've been bedridden for the past couple of days and-"
"No, hyung, I want you to take a cold shower. I mean, since you have a high temperature, maybe being under something really cold will help even out your body temperature!" Sungjong smiled as he turned the shower to its coldest setting before closing the shower curtain. "I'll be right outside, waiting for you with a warm towel, hyung~"
---
"39.8 degrees Celsius," Sunggyu read aloud from the thermometer stick. Shaking his head, the leader of Infinite stared daggers at the youngest. "How the hell did Hoya's fever go up while we were gone?"
Sungjong smiled sheepishly at the older before Woohyun walked in with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. "Well, you know what? I haven't eaten all day, so I think I'm going to leave and go get some grub. Sayonara, hyung!" With that said, the youngest bolted out of the room, leaving behind a bedridden Hoya gasping for breath, a fuming Sunggyu, and a confused Woohyun.
"YAH, LEE SUNGJONG!"
ii. patbingsoo
It was now the second day of the whole "Leave-Sungjong-Alone-With-Sick-Hoya" plan. Sunggyu had been hesitant to leave in the morning, but Sungjong had managed to persuade the older to leave with words like, "It won't happen again" and "Didn't you say there was an AKB48 concert today?"
Hoya's temperature had lowered since the previous night, allowing Sungjong to breathe a sigh of relief. He didn't know what he'd do if it turned out Hoya's condition had turned worse thanks to him. With a frown, Sungjong decided that there had to be another way to lower Hoya's temperature (that wouldn't require freezing showers).
"Hm, maybe... Just maybe... Aha! I've got it!" With a smile that could have rivaled the grin of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, Sungjong left the hotel room to go grocery shopping. Moments later, Hoya woke up to the smell of condensed milk mixed with strawberries and kiwis.
"Is that...?"
"It's patbingsoo!"
"I can see that, but why...?"
"Well, obviously, the cold shower idea yesterday didn't really work out well - sorry about that, hyung - but I figured the logic behind it couldn't be that wrong. Hence, this patbingsoo! Maybe eating something cold will cool you down from the inside out!"
"Er, Sungjong-"
"Say 'Ah~~~,' hyung!"
---
"39.3 degrees Celsius..." Sunggyu stared first at Hoya, and then at the maknae. "Well, at least his temperature didn't go up, but... Explain to me why there's a terrible smell emanating from the kitchen?"
"Uh, Hoya-hyung kind of... Threw up..."
"And what was he eating that happened to make him throw up so colorfully?"
"Uh, patbingsoo..."
"And who fed him that?"
"Uh, well-"
Cue Myungsoo walking in and pulling Sunggyu out of the room, all the while mumbling, "Hyung, if you don't get out here, you won't be able to choose which AKB48 member poster to get."
iii. sushi
"Yeah, I really don't think I should leave you alone with Hoya today. Not after what's happened the past two days." Sunggyu raised an eyebrow as the rest of the Infinite members were preparing to leave the hotel room.
"B-but, it's Tokyo tower! A scenic landmark of Tokyo! You have to go see it!"
"Sungjong-ah..."
"I promise I won't shove Hoya underneath a cold shower or feed him patbingsoo!"
"I'm more worried that you'll do something else wrong, Sungjong-ah."
"Just trust me, please~?"
"Sunggyu-hyung," interrupted Dongwoo. "The taxi's waiting for us outside already. It'd be rude to keep the taxi driver waiting."
The leader narrowed his eyes at Sungjong before turning around and following Dongwoo. "You better be careful, Sungjong-ah. At this rate, it seems like Hoya will never get better."
With a sigh, Sungjong shut the door. "Geez, I thought he'd never leave." Sungjong pouted as he walked over to the room Hoya was bedridden within. Hoya was currently sleeping peacefully, blissfully unaware that another idea concerning his wellbeing was currently being formulated within the maknae's head.
"This time, I have a surefire plan to make Hoya-hyung well again!" Whistling to the tune of "BTD," Sungjong picked up the phone and dialed in the number for room service. "Hello, room service? Ah, well, I have a request..."
---
"Sushi?"
"It's your favorite food, isn't it?" Sungjong beamed at the older boy as he held out the large tray of assorted rolls and sashimi. "Dig in, hyung, dig in!"
Hoya shook his head. "I don't know about this... My stomach's pretty sensitive after yesterday's, er, incident... As much as I love sushi, I'm not sure if my stomach will be able to handle all this raw fish..."
"B-but, you've been able to eat it before! And it's your favorite food! And I already paid for this huge tray, it'd be such a waste if you didn't eat at least a couple sushi rolls!" Sungjong made the biggest puppy eyes he could muster, causing the older boy to smile a little and stifle a chuckle.
"Alright then... Since you're so adamant about it..."
---
"39 degrees Celsius exactly," Sunggyu raised an eyebrow. "His temperature's actually gone down. However, explain to me why Hoya's sleeping out here on the couch and not in his room?"
"Well, um, you see..."
"Sungjong-ah, let me guess - Hoya threw up again, didn't he? Only this time, he didn't make it to the kitchen."
"Ah, yeah, pretty much..."
"I'm not leaving you alone with Hoya tomorrow morning."
"O-okay..."
iv. chili peppers
"WHY ME~?" wailed Infinite's tallest member. "I want to go see Shibuya too!"
"You can blame the maknae for not being trustworthy enough to be left alone with a sick patient." Sunggyu frowned as he closed the door on Sungyeol's face. "Don't worry, I'll pick up some souvenirs for you guys along the way... If I remember."
"HYUNG~!"
"I'm kidding, I'll remember."
"THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE HERE~!" When no response sounded from the other side of the door, Sungyeol slouched down onto the floor with his lower lip trembling. "Aish, this is unfair, unfair I tell you!"
Sungjong smirked, "Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction a couple days ago."
The taller one glowered at the younger male before standing up. With a sigh, Sungyeol walked over to couch where Hoya was sleeping before a demonic glint seemed to flicker in his eyes. "Well, since we have to be left alone with Howon anyways... We might as well make the most of it, right?"
"And just what exactly is your idea of 'making the most of it'?"
---
"Sungyeol, why are you still here?"
"Oh, you know, thanks to Sungjong causing you to become more incapacitated than usual... Sunggyu-hyung left me behind to assist him in looking out for you." Lee Sungyeol shrugged as he handed the boy a sandwich.
Hoya looked warily around the hotel room's living area as he sat up from his position on the couch. "Where's the maknae...?"
"I sent him out to get some water."
"Why water?"
"You'll see. Just eat the sandwich."
---
"39.3 degrees Celsius - what the hell, Hoya's temperature has risen again!" Sunggyu grumbled as he tossed away the used cover of the temperature probe. "Sungjong-ah..."
"I-IT WASN'T ME THIS TIME! I SWEAR!" Sungjong immediately bolted only to return while dragging Infinite's choding to the couch - where lay a sweating Hoya that was tossing and turning in his sleeping position. "Sungyeol-hyung thought it would be a good idea for Hoya to sweat out his fever, so he fed him chili peppers!"
"It sounded like a good idea at the time!"
"Well, obviously it wasn't!"
"The two of you - quiet!" Sunggyu facepalmed as he dragged the two bickering members out of the hotel room. "You two aren't allowed back inside until Hoya's fever calms down!"
"This is all your fault, hyung!"
"My fault? You could have stopped me!"
Then, the door shut on two thirds of the Sung brothers... As Sunggyu let out an exasperated sigh and walked into the kitchen to ask Woohyun to cook up some chicken noodle soup again.
v. body heat
"Obviously, leaving behind only choding and you wasn't a good idea. I might actually just prefer you." Sunggyu's eyes seemed to disappear as he laughed wryly to himself. Sungjong laughed nervously along before the elder shook his head. "Anyways, we'll be back earlier today. We're just heading out to a meet and greet with some of the boybands within Johnny's."
"Okay, see you later, hyung."
"No, wait, uh... You, Dongwoo."
Infinite's resident Kenyan stopped in his steps. "Me?"
"Stay behind with Sungjong."
"Uh, okay." Dongwoo shrugged before waving together with the maknae, waving goodbye to the rest of the Infinite members - sans Hoya, who was still tossing and turning on the hotel room couch.
Sungjong pouted. "What should we do now?"
"Meh, Hoya's sleeping... Let's go out and have some fun ourselves, yeah?" Dongwoo winked before he grabbed the maknae's arm and dragged him out the door.
---
When Hoya next opened his eyes, only one word was able to be heard escaping his mouth:
"Fuck."
For the next time Hoya opened his eyes, Sungjong had waltzed into the hotel room door dressed in a leather miniskirt and red high heels. Feeling the older's burning stare, Sungjong quickly glanced up only to be met with Hoya's hooded gaze.
"Oh... Um... Hi, hyung. I'm sure you're wondering why I'm dressed like this. Haha. Long story short, I lost a bet with Dongwoo and-"
"Sungjong... Come closer."
Slowly, the maknae clumsily made his way over to the boy who was now sitting erect on the couch. "What is it that you need - ah!"
With one swift arm motion, Hoya had managed to envelop the younger in a hug and pull him down so that the two were now lying on the couch together.
"H-Hyung, you know, Dongwoo's probably on his way up the stairs a-and..."
"Just... Be quiet. Please."
After a few minutes, Hoya fell asleep with Sungjong wrapped in his arms.
---
"We're home - woah, Hoya, you're up and about!" Woohyun rubbed his eyes as he noticed Hoya in the kitchen.
The aforementioned male simply shrugged as he continued cooking his ramen. "Oh, hey. How was the meeting with the people at Johnny's?"
"It went well. Where's the maknae?" Myungsoo peeped in from behind the hotel door, Sungyeol following closely behind.
"Did one of Sungjong's tactics actually work this time?" chirped the tall boy.
"Hm, you could say that." Hoya smirked as he sat down at the kitchen table. Then, he used his chopsticks to point at the couch. "By the way, the maknae's sleeping on the couch."
Soon the leader of Infinite walked in the door, tugging Dongwoo along, grumbling things like, "If Howon's temperature has risen again, Dongwoo-yah, I'm going to-"
"Oi, Sunggyu-hyung~"
Sunggyu stopped grumbling and tugging on Dongwoo's shirt. "H-Hoya! You're well again."
"See, it wasn't so bad that I left the two alone after all..." Dongwoo's voice trailed off as he sniffed the air. "Hey, is that ramen? Yum, I want some!"
A weak cry could suddenly be heard emanating from the couch. "Hyuuungs~"
---
Sunggyu shook his head and sighed as he stared at the reading on the temperature probe. "39.2 degrees Celsius... Why is Sungjong sick now?"
Hoya shrugged as he massaged the shoulders of the youngest. "Beats me, but I feel healthy as ever at the moment."
Sunggyu raised an eyebrow before deciding it better not to ask. "Anyways, we still have two more days left of our break... I guess I can stay home starting tomorrow. You haven't had a chance to sightsee after all, Howon, maybe you want to go out?"
Hoya shook his head slowly before smiling sheepishly. "Nah, it's alright. Since Sungjong was able to nurse me back to health, I'll stay by his side and try my best to heal him too."
Dongwoo happened to walk by at that moment. With a cough, he mumbled, "I hope your healing tactics don't happen to include a leather miniskirt and heels."
